FAQ

  • What method books do you use for piano lessons?

For piano lessons, I generally recommend the Faber Piano Adventures method books, which provide a solid foundation and are engaging for students of all levels. However, I’m flexible and have experience with various other method books as well. I work with each student to determine the best approach based on their interests, previous experience, and learning style. Additionally, students have the opportunity to explore pieces from my extensive library or select sheet music that interests them, ensuring their learning experience is both enjoyable and personalized.

  • How do your virtual math sessions work?

I conduct my virtual math sessions via Zoom, which offers excellent whiteboard and screen annotation features for interactive learning. To enhance our sessions, I use an app called Explain Everything, which allows me to create, save, and share handwritten documents in real-time. During our sessions, students can easily share their screens with me, collaborate on our shared Explain Everything document, or send me pictures of their assignments through text or email. This setup ensures a dynamic and engaging experience, making it easy for us to work through problems and concepts together effectively

  • Can you help me with my math homework?

Absolutely! Helping with homework is a key part of what I do. Many students come to me specifically for assistance with their assignments and preparation for assessments. To ensure you’re well-prepared, I provide targeted practice problems and examples, and can even create additional exercises tailored to your needs. My goal is to support you in mastering the material and building confidence in your math skills.

  • Do you offer music theory lessons?

Yes, I integrate music theory into our piano lessons to provide a well-rounded musical education. Additionally, I offer separate music theory sessions for students who want to focus specifically on this subject. I’ve also conducted group sessions with 2-5 students, where we prepare for MMTA music theory exams. Whether you’re looking for individual or group instruction, I’m here to support your music theory learning needs.

  • How do you handle scheduling?

Most of my students have a regular weekly timeslot for their lessons, which helps ensure consistent progress. I review and adjust my schedule at the start of each school year and summer to accommodate new and returning students. While I do offer flexible, as-needed sessions, I recommend booking a weekly timeslot for the most reliable scheduling. As-needed slots tend to fill up quickly, so securing a regular time is often the best way to ensure you get the slot that works best for you.

  • How does payment work?

I offer a free 20-minute consultation to get to know each other and discuss your goals. Following the consultation, payments are processed through Square, allowing you to pay online via credit card. For the first tutoring session or piano lesson, payment is due within a week of the session. After this initial session, you can opt for monthly payments for added convenience.
